CIRCOR Aerospace Selected by Piper Aircraft to Supply PiperJet Altaire Electro-Mechanical Hardware

CORONA, CA – CIRCOR Aerospace Products Group, a business unit of CIRCOR International (NYSE: CIR), has been selected by Piper Aircraft Inc. to design and manufacture a fuel system motor-operated fuel component on the PiperJet Altaire single-engine business jet. The contract value is not being disclosed.

CIRCOR Aerospace will perform the manufacturing, final assembly and testing of these critical fuel system components at its Corona, California facilities. CIRCOR’s “rapid-response” capability will support the Iron Bird build schedule by providing prototype hardware with a 30 percent lead-time reduction. Further, CIRCOR Aerospace is applying “derivative-engineering” to take full advantage of the CIRCOR Aerospace 60 year motor operated valve pedigree, reliability, and design technology.

Piper Altaire maximum range is targeted at 1,300 nautical miles with a maximum cruise speed planned at 360 knots. The airplane is planned to fly 1,200 nautical miles with a payload of 800 pounds. Price point for the Piper Altaire is $2.5 million, with a typically equipped aircraft priced at $2.6 million. The Piper Altaire costs an average of 25 percent less to operate per hour than comparable production very light jets.

The Altaire has dynamic crew and passenger seats for increased safety and comfort. The airplane also has comfortable club seating in the spacious cabin with an optional seventh seat located across the aisle from the entry door.
