CIRCOR Aerospace Products of Corona, California has announced sponsorship of the Cal Poly Pomona student Formula Race Car as an enhancement of its partnership with the school's engineering program.
CIRCOR Aerospace, through its Southern California businesses Circle Seal Controls of Corona and LOUD Engineering and Manufacturing of Ontario, has established an engineering student intern program in cooperation with Cal Poly and has actively recruited engineering graduates for full time roles within the company.
The Cal Poly student chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has long sponsored a student-led Formula car design to showcase technical capabilities, promote teamwork and test the results in a demanding racing environment. This is a true team of students from engineering and related disciplines, working together to gain hands-on experience that is much different than the traditional classroom approach.
CIRCOR has agreed to join the consortium of industry partners by providing sponsorship of the 20072008 student formula racing program and looks forward to the continued success of the student design and fabrication team.
Terry Fisher, Vice President for Corona Operations comments, “We have been fortunate to have student interns from the formula team make an impact in our factory and design engineering teams and really believe that participation in this project prepares them as engineers and leaders to make an impact in high technology companies like CIRCOR.”
